I hope everyone survived the hurricane without too much damage to property. Jack an I were placed on 12 hours shifts at work, 6a-6p, starting Friday before the storm. I had packed up Lilly and the 2 of us went out to my parents house so they could watch her. Jack stayed out at his parents house on the east side.
On Saturday morning, 2am Sat. morning, I awoke to Lilly crying for food. By 3am I was dressed and driving from Walden to The Woodlands to make sure I was on time for my shift. Well, driving in a hurricane is not as fun as it sounds. Power was out by this time and I was the ONLY idiot cruisin' south on the freeway. I figured I would drive by my house to make sure that no one had messed with anything. So I make it down Rayford, turn into my neighborhood, and...TREE DOWN! At this time I'm like, "OK I'M OUT" So as I'm cruising back down Rayford to get somewhere safe I drive up on this HUGE tree that was blocking all but 1/2 of 1 lane. Thank goodness I was able to get out of there b/c that tree had not been there minutes before. I finally made it back to the office, where all our units were grounded until the storm passed.
Once we were released we headed out to answer calls for help. I am sorry to sound heartless but a lot of common sense was blown away with the storm.
OK, let me tell you some of our 911 calls.
-"I'm out of power" No joke dude, your dumb
-"I can't open my garage door to get my car out" Seriously where do you have to go right now, your dumb
-"A tree is leaning over the road" Don't drive under it...if you haven't heard a hurricane just blew thru here so YES, there are trees leaning over, your dumb
-"Where can I get ice" Luxury buddy some people don't even have a house, your dumb.
-"Can you check on my family I can't get a hold of them" Hmmmm I haven't seen my husband in 6 days, can you go check on him? Phones are out people, your dumb.
There are so many more I could go on for days.
Some of the funnier things I observed people do:
-a man jogging during the storm (I have a picture of this dude)
-a person out for a walk during the storm
-people driving thru high water and flooding their vehicles (this included 3 patrol cars)
-people using up a tank of gas to wait in line to get gas.
-to then go wait in line for ice using up their new tank of gas. 
Some of the cool things I saw:
-At least 40 people volunteering time at Fellowship church to hand out supplies.
-Neighbors helping each other.
-Hundreds of power company employees working around the clock. (My mom met a guy who came from Ohio to help).
I am so happy that both of our families are safe and escaped w/out harm. We have now worked over 80 hours each in 1 week. I have only seen my husband in passing and he hasn't seen Lilly in days. I feel I have neglected our baby girl b/c I go home, feed her, go to bed, feed her, then leave for work. She is now mostly on formula b/c her back-up is gone and I don't have time to pump during the day. My mom has told me that she is rolling over a lot, will sleep on her belly (umm, last I knew she hated being on her belly), will laugh, and puts her foot in her mouth now. I can't wait to get back to normal we are missing so much. We are all tired, grouchy, and...
Lilly took her first trip today for her 3 month birthday. Our family and the Elliott's went against traffic and headed to 
Then we stopped to take a family picture.
Our next adventure was taking the kiddo's on the Ferris Wheel for the first time. It was kind of lost on Lilly seeing as I was not about to let her out of my death grip to look out of the cart. The two of us enjoyed the breeze, it was very sunny and hot. Kennedy really enjoyed herself!
This is where the trouble starts. So, the babies wanted to lose the parents (we are embarrassing or something) and decided to go grab a few drinks. Here is a shot of Kennedy picking a beverage from the happy hour menu at the bar.
Well the cops were called and Lilly got busted just as she was trying to make a quick getaway from the saloon!
