100...not always a perfect score!

My poor peanut had her first fever today. In the past she has felt a little warm, but never went close to 100*. I guess it all started 2 days ago, when I passed my nasty bugaboo's to her. I had the sore throat- stuffy nose- cough thingy since last Saturday. I had to call in sick on Monday because I felt horrible and had no voice. So Lilly and I had a pj day at the house. I tried really hard to keep my distance but I couldn't stop myself from giving her kisses every time I was near her. Well, then came her green boogies and cough. The cough I first thought was just her mimicking me, but as time went on I could tell some of them were real. Then the sneezing, the girl has a cute sneeze.

Last night she felt a little warm so I gave her some Tylenol and it seemed to help. Up to 1 am I kept sneaking into her room to check her temp.
So far so good...until this morning.

I went into her room to get her out of bed and she was on fire. I had this instant panic rush over me because I have not had to care for a sick baby yet. I quickly calmed myself down understanding that babies will have fevers its ok. I pulled out the thermometer and did the underarm reading...about 10 times. It was always between 99*-100.3*. At this point I'm going nuts trying to remember if I add 1 or 2 degrees to this to get her actual temp???? Let me also mention that during all of this Lilly just wants to eat the thermometer and is chattering at me like everything is dandy. I get her back in a sleeper and run for the Tylenol again. I called my Mom...and I called my Mom...and I called my Mom...and SHE NEVER ANSWERS HER CELL PHONE! (LOL) or (Laugh Out Loud)- because my Mom doesn't text or IM either.

~Do I call the Doctor or let it run its course.
~What if she gets worse and I did nothing.
~What if she gets better and I drag her to the Dr. for nothing.

The book, Caring for your Baby and Young Child- pg 633- FEVER- First line second column-
"In children between 6 months and 5 years, fever can trigger seizures, called febrile convulsions."

Uhhhhh, say what? No- start with some Tylenol or ensure you give your child lots of fluids! It's Seizures...really, well crap- but wait "It is reassuring to know that febrile convulsions almost always are harmless" well thank you for that note. "Almost always" WOW.

Well thankfully I was able to talk to Sabrina for some Mommy advise. Which was to call the Doctor and see if they wanted me to bring Lilly in. Sooooo, that's what I did and they had me bring her in that afternoon.

At the appt. she was just below 100* again and feeling better to the touch. The Dr. said she has a sinus and ear infection. Her right ear is mildly infected and her left one was slightly red. She never gave me any indication her ears were bothering her. Lilly got a prescription for antibiotics and a little rubber ducky for being so good. We also got a 8mo weight on her, 17lb 6oz.

Right before bedtime I checked her underarm temp again and it was reading 101.4*. Overall she was still in good spirits all evening. The only change in behavior was wanting to be cuddled. From the time we got home from the Dr to her bedtime I held her. It was actually really nice. I hear her coughing now so I am going to say goodnight and go check on her.

I will leave you with this great picture of Lilly's 6 teeth!

8 and doing great!

Happy Birthday to me....

I'm 8 months old today!

MY DAY: For my birthday we went to Kobe for lunch then went to take some birthday pictures. Mommy found this beautiful spot at the Methodist church. She wanted to check it out for my 1 year pictures. We really liked it there it was soooo pretty. Then we went home and played inside cause the sky was crying. Maybe it was sad because I didn't get any cake. Here are the pictures my Mommy and Daddy like the best.

I got the idea for this next picture from Lilly's sitter, Mrs. Jennifer. She has an adorable little girl, who had a picture taken similar to this and I LOVED IT! So here is my attempt-
GETTIN' ROUND: Well, I'm still not crawling- but I promise I'm working on it. Its so easy to slide across the laminate floors so I can get anywhere pretty fast. I opened my first drawer today, my Mommy got that look on her face, you know the *Uhh Ohhh* look. I'm just trying new things ya know. I'm already working on standing also. I bet you saw me in those pictures. As long as I have something to hold on to and I'm really still I wont fall over.

CHOMPERS: I have 6 total. The 4 on top are all coming in at the same time. Just last week they broke through my gums. They don't bother me to much but my Mommy always calls me a Garbage Pail Kid, cause I drool a lot and my nose is always runny.

RAMBLIN': They say I'm a chatterbox and my favorite new word is AAAAAAAAAA... I love to say that when I'm riding in the car. Hey, anyone know what a partition is? My Mommy said she really wished she could get one installed. I'm really good at DADADA and NANANANA.

THE BOOB TUBE: Yea, I still really love Jack's Big Music Show. I'm so happy to hear that some of my buddies have had a chance to see it and like it too.

RUB-A-DUB-DUB: Bath time is always fun, I like to splash around. I just hate getting out it's always so cold. Mom got this sprayer...or should I call it a power washer. She was trying to rinse me off and almost blew me outta the tub. Dog sprayers are not baby friendly!

CHOW TIME: Bottle- thats all I have to say 'bout that! Actually one more thing- I'm learning to hold it all by myself, but it's soooo heavy.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

I'm headed back to bed before my Mommy and Daddy catch me in here. Have a good day!
