Au Revoir to Chateau d'Avalon

Well...

We are scheduled to close on our house on Tuesday! If all goes as planned we are finally out of the hood!!! YAY! This is after moving for two days (Wednesday and Thursday) and getting the phone call Thursday afternoon advising us our closing has to be pushed due to a problem with paperwork. So we were originally going to close Friday morning, but couldn't. We are keeping our fingers crossed because...

Say HELLO to our new castle! And one of the best features of this home...

It has a huge backyard for Lilly to play and us to hang out. We are getting really excited about getting into this house. I think we have been slow to say too much or get too vested in the home because the past 3 houses we fell in love with were sold out from under us.

1. was on the market over 1 year...it went under contract the day before our house went under contract!

2. was in my dream neighborhood...was on the market for 1/2 day, we were the second showing- the first showing got it!

3. was a HUGE foreclosure home going for ~$50,000 less than valued...it went under contract the day before we got our offer together. (even got a quote for siding)

So, needless to say we were both feeling really down on our luck. The day we went to see our new house we checked out an 11 acre plot complete with a 2200 sq ft log home w/ 4 car garage. It was pretty nice, when we met with our agent she told us there were 8 offers on the home already! WTF...NEXT! I was getting so sick and tired of it all...This market is supposed to suck right now, but houses are flying off the market- before you can finish walking from the front door to the back yard it's under contract. So Jack and I were like "whatever, we like the house lets go ahead and see what happens"

Here's what happens...We decide to put in an offer $18,000 less than asking price. They counter $10,000 less than asking price. We (on the urging of my parents THANK YOU) counter back at $14,000 less than asking price and they accepted it! WooooHooooo, we were so ready to just take their counter. Glad my parents told us to go for it. So not only are we getting pretty much EVERYTHING we wanted in a new house, we got a good price as well.

As for us, we are now staying at Jack's parents house out East. All three of us have cozied ourselves together in a room an managed to comfortably fit all our necessities in there as well.

Lastly, today is Jack's birthday and we had dinner with our friends Robert and Edna at Chewy's then had cake and opened gifts back at his parents house. Oh yea...Jack is now a member of the SWAT team! We are all so proud of him, he has been training and working really hard to join them.
